2 Killed in Hong Kong mall attack

Soon after 5 o’clock in the afternoon, a 39-year-old assailant struck on the third floor of the Plaza Hollywood shopping center in Diamond Hill, according to police.

Later in the hospital, two victims, 22 and 26, passed away.

On Friday, a horrific knife attack at a mall in Hong Kong resulted in the deaths of two female shoppers before the alleged attacker was apprehended.

Police reported that the 39-year-old man attacker attacked on the third level of the Plaza Hollywood shopping center in Diamond Hill shortly after 5 o’clock.

A police official stated, “An initial investigation indicated that two victims were left unconscious after a knife attack,” adding that the alleged assailant was taken down on the spot.

He claimed the 22- and 26-year-old victims were carried unconscious to United Christian Hospital for treatment.

According to a source, one of the victims had at least 20 stab wounds. The two later passed away in a hospital, according to the spokeswoman.

One of the victims is seen being held down on the ground by the knifeman, who is seen in the photo wearing a white vest and shorts, during the attack outside a store.

An cop team holding shields and a pepper spray pistol approaches the assailant in an online video, telling him to drop the weapon.

The man is then seen being dragged to the ground by officers as officers rush over to handcuff him. At the site, police discovered a 15 centimeter knife.

In a another internet video, two women can be seen strolling together through the mall before the attacker stabs one of them repeatedly in the back.

Even though the woman is on the ground, the vicious onslaught goes on. In the 59-second footage, her partner takes the wounded woman a little distance before the knifeman follows up and resumes his attack. She pulls the assailant away.

A bloody trail is left on the floor as the injured woman is taken away and the attacker is shoved away. On camera, the offender is seen hitting the unharmed woman before repeatedly stabbing the victim until her companion returns and punches him.

The assailant runs after the other woman while leaving the stabbed victim unmoving on the ground.

In the video, no bystanders are seen having the courage to approach the two women and provide assistance.

While cops investigated, the area was blocked off.

The suspect was brought to the Wong Tai Sin Police Station where he is being detained pending questioning. The case, which has been labeled as a murder, is being handled by detectives from the regional crime section for Kowloon East.

Police responded to six homicide reports between January and March of this year. In the same time frame the year before, seven cases were reported.
