3.1-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Mae Hong Son
MAE HONG SON – A 3.1-magnitude earthquake shook Pang Ma Pha district in Mae Hong Son province on Wednesday evening, according to the Meteorological Department’s Earthquake Observation Division.
The quake, which struck at 4:49 PM, had a shallow depth of just one kilometer and was centered in Tambon Tham Lod.
Cause and Impact
The Department of Mineral Resources confirmed that the tremor was triggered by activity along the Wiang Haeng Fault, which runs in a north-south direction and exhibits normal fault movement.
Residents in Tambon Tham Lod reported feeling the tremor, though no damage or injuries have been reported.
Authorities continue to monitor seismic activity in the region to assess any potential risks.
