On a Thai Airways flight from Bangkok to Frankfurt, a disturbance amongst passengers led to German police intervention as the plane landed. Passengers applauded the airline personnel for managing the incident in a prompt and professional manner.
On the Facebook page Travel to Europe by Yourself, one of the passengers, Kitiphong Santiwatr, relived the tense flight experience. He provided insight on the July 18 incident involving a huge male who was reportedly unruly on board flight TG920.
According to Kitiphong, the situation became chaotic when the aforementioned passenger occupied a special seat without authorization and without having paid for it. The customer became irate and began raising his voice when the flight crew ordered him to take his allotted seat back. Soon, the situation on board began to worsen, garnering the attention of an obviously frightened Kitiphong, who was seated eight rows back.
The cabin attendant gave the guest documents, probably a justification for his behavior, after five silent minutes. The passenger started a vocal commotion instead of cooperating, then threw things on the table and ruined his seat. Only a female stewardess and a male steward were on duty at the time to cope with the disruptive guest, according to Sanook. Kitiphong praised the flight crew for their admirable response, which began with locking the cockpit door and requesting a pilot’s help.
The flight’s next ten minutes highlighted how unpredictable the situation was. Although the passenger was supposed to be contained, the crew chose to keep him alone until he calmed down, calming the tense environment aboard the aircraft.
German police were called upon the plane’s arrival following a peaceful 10-hour period during which the crew displayed admirable professionalism. Five armed German police officers stormed the flight and detained the troublesome passenger after the captain ordered everyone to stay seated. Kitiphong later revealed that the pilot believed that, given the man’s stature and apparent sobriety, restraining him mid-flight may have caused injury. Therefore, it was determined to tackle the problem when they landed. He expressed his admiration for the chief flight attendant’s professional judgment under challenging conditions.
As he wrapped up his post, Kitiphong assured fellow passengers of Thai Airways’ consistent dependability and expressed his confidence in their services. He also thanked the flight’s crew for everything they had done.
