AOT Assures Safety Standards at All Six Airports
Bangkok, Thailand – Airports of Thailand Plc (AOT) has confirmed that all six international airports under its management meet structural safety standards following the 7.7-magnitude earthquake in Myanmar that sent tremors through Bangkok and other Thai provinces on Friday.
Airports Resume Normal Operations
The six airports—Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Mae Fah Luang-Chiang Rai, Phuket, and Hat Yai—resumed normal operations at 2:30 PM on Friday, according to AOT.
In a statement posted on AOT’s official Facebook page, the company assured that thorough inspections had been carried out on passenger terminals, aprons, runways, taxiways, piers, aerobridges, and service systems.
AOT President Kerati Kijmanawat also sent a letter to the permanent secretary for foreign affairs on Saturday, confirming that all facilities remain structurally sound and meet international aviation safety standards.
No Disruptions to Air Travel
The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) reported that flights in and out of Bangkok remained unaffected by the earthquake, with normal operations continuing as scheduled.
Meanwhile, Tourism and Sports Minister Sorawong Thienthong stated that Thailand’s situation has returned to normal. Businesses and tourist attractions remain open, and authorities continue to monitor any potential aftershocks.
