Bangkok Bus Terminal Unveils 107 New Ticket Counters Ahead of Songkran Travel Surge
BANGKOK, April 4, 2025 — In preparation for the Songkran holiday rush, Thailand’s Transport Company Limited (BorKorSor) has unveiled a major upgrade at the Bangkok Bus Terminal (Chatuchak), also known as Mo Chit 2, with 107 brand-new ticket counters aimed at easing congestion and enhancing the travel experience.
Chatchawan Prommoratham, Acting President of the Transport Company, announced the completion of the revamped passenger ticketing zones, part of a broader push to modernize Thailand’s public transport infrastructure and improve connectivity nationwide.
The newly installed counters include 38 on the first floor and 69 on the third floor, serving both Transport Co. and private operators running domestic and cross-border bus routes. The expansion is expected to accommodate the dramatic surge in passengers during Songkran—Thailand’s biggest annual travel season.
Each counter is now equipped with clear glass partitions and 50-inch LED display screens that provide real-time information on bus companies, routes, service standards, and fares. This upgrade aims to boost transparency, reduce confusion, and create a more streamlined, user-friendly ticketing process.
“The renovation offers not just better organization, but also a safer, more comfortable environment for travelers,” said Chatchawan. “We’re committed to raising the standard of service, especially during high-demand periods like Songkran.”
The announcement comes as tens of thousands of Thais are expected to leave Bangkok to celebrate the traditional New Year with family, making Mo Chit 2 a critical hub during the festive period.
The upgrade is one of several infrastructure improvements in the pipeline as authorities aim to modernize transport hubs and support Thailand’s growing domestic and international tourism sector.
