Big C opening more stores in 2025

Big C is set to expand its operations by opening new hypermarkets and convenience stores despite facing a tough economic environment.

Aswin Techajareonvikul, the CEO and president of Big C Supercenter Plc, announced that the company plans to invest between 4-5 billion baht this year, prioritizing store renovations and the establishment of new branches.

Recognizing potential within the retail sector, Big C aims to launch 3-5 new hypermarkets as well as approximately 250 Big C mini stores this year.

Currently, Big C operates an extensive network, which includes 156 hypermarkets, 16 Foodplace stores, 35 Big C Market stores, and 1,602 Big C mini stores throughout the country.

The company also has a presence outside Thailand, with 36 branches including one hypermarket and two Big C Foodplace stores, plus 18 Big C mini stores in Cambodia. Additionally, there is one hypermarket in Laos and 14 convenience stores in Hong Kong.

Mr. Aswin emphasized the company’s careful monitoring of global trends, particularly the US Federal Reserve’s interest rate policies, as these can impact the Thai stock market and currency.

He acknowledged that both global and local economic conditions are challenging, which could influence consumer spending patterns.

During the recent Lunar New Year festivities, Big C experienced double-digit sales growth, attributed to celebrations and the government’s Easy E-Receipt tax deduction initiative.

Mr. Aswin reiterated Big C’s commitment to delivering value and improving its fresh product selection.

In anticipation of the Songkran festival in April, he mentioned that special promotional campaigns for loyal customers may be launched.

Big C has collaborated with the Royal Project Foundation to organize an agricultural products fair aimed at supporting the income of farmers in highland regions. The event runs from Monday until February 12 and takes place at 15 branches, including Big C Rama IV in Bangkok and Big C Extra in Chiang Mai and Pattaya.

Customers can explore a wide range of over 100 Royal Project products, covering fresh vegetables, fruits, coffee, and handicrafts. Additionally, agricultural products from the Royal Project Foundation are available at 150 other Big C locations across the country.
