Danish Man Missing in Thailand Since March; Family Issues Urgent Appeal for Help
BANGKOK – The family of a 41-year-old Danish man who disappeared in Thailand nearly two months ago is appealing to the public for help locating him, amid growing fears for his safety and mental wellbeing.
Jakob Jensen was last seen on March 21 while reportedly in a psychotic state during a bus journey from Ranong to Bangkok. A possible sighting placed him disembarking in Prachuap Khiri Khan, but he has not been seen or heard from since.
Concerned for his health and safety, a family member posted a detailed appeal on Reddit on May 15 under the username AJenDK, sharing a timeline of Mr. Jensen’s movements in Thailand and urging anyone with information to come forward. The post, titled “HELP! My little brother has gone missing!”, emphasized that Mr. Jensen suffers from a mental health condition and does not have access to his medication.
“He is in a psychotic state and urgently needs medical help,” the family member wrote.
Mr. Jensen arrived in Thailand in early February and initially stayed with a friend in Ranong. On March 1, that friend accompanied him to Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, believing he would return to Denmark. However, Mr. Jensen never boarded a flight. The following day, he emailed his mother—a message that would be his last known contact with his family. His phone has been switched off since March 3.
He was later seen back in Ranong around March 19, staying at a guesthouse called Palmy House. On March 21, after reportedly causing damage to the property, he was helped by tourist police, who placed him on a bus bound for Bangkok. He claimed he would meet a friend there, though his family says they are unaware of any such contact.
A reported sighting suggested he got off the bus in Prachuap Khiri Khan, but no confirmed trace of him has been found since.
The family contacted Danish police and the Danish embassy in Bangkok in early May. On May 6, Danish authorities issued an international missing persons report, and efforts to access Mr. Jensen’s financial records are ongoing. Thai immigration records only verify his presence in Ranong.
Tourist police in Ranong and Bangkok have been informed, and the Danish embassy is actively engaged in the case. The appeal has drawn increasing attention from Thai and European media, as well as online communities.
Mr. Jensen is described as 180 cm tall, weighing around 90 kg, with dark blond hair, a curly brown beard with grey patches, and grey-green eyes.
Anyone with information is urged to contact local authorities or refer to the original Reddit post for more details.
