DHL Express will use nine Boeing 777 freighters in 2024

The cargo airline has decided to buy nine 777 freighter modifications from Jetran while switching to a new generation of airplanes.

Nine Boeing 777 aircraft will be purchased by DHL Express, according to the company. These aircraft have historically carried people, but they will now carry cargo. The first of these modified freighters is anticipated by the airline to arrive the following year. It anticipates receiving all nine of the 777s by the end of 2027.

The airline’s broader sustainability effort includes this order. The airline is aiming to replace its fleet of outdated freighters with more fuel-efficient jets through this effort. By doing this, the company will lower the amount of carbon emissions it produces while also cutting operating expenses, allowing for higher profit margins and for further operational expansion.

seasoned pilots are reborn

Since the dawn of the jet age, thousands of airplanes have left Boeing’s production lines. The majority of these jets were designed with passenger transportation in mind and served in that capacity for many years before being retired. However, a few passenger planes are chosen to be altered to carry freight, saving them momentarily from a sandy grave in the desert.

The entire interior of these particular aircraft is completely renovated, including the cabin floor. The airplane returns to the skies after undergoing renovation, carrying a brand-new mission and livery.

Nine Jetran Boeing 777-200LR aircraft have been chosen to undergo this conversion and become Mammoth-converted Boeing 777-200LRF aircraft. According to the airline, its present and upcoming operations will work flawlessly with these airplanes. The converted freighters will be added to DHL Express’s fleet of long-distance intercontinental planes.

optimization of the fleet

DHL Express has been attempting to optimize its fleet for the past few years as it looks to the future. To do this, it has decided to replace its outdated fleet with brand-new, fuel-efficient airplanes like the Boeing 777F and Airbus A350F. Although the fuel consumption of its fleet of new aircraft will be significantly lower than that of its Boeing 747s, it will take years for all of these new planes to be built and delivered, which is where the modified 777s come into play.

Long before the airline obtains all the brand-new freighters it has bought directly from the manufacturers, these 777s can be transformed and delivered. These 777s significantly improve fuel efficiency over the majority of the current fleet, even if they are not as fuel-efficient as brand-new airplanes. They are also far less expensive to purchase, which will probably balance out their brief remaining lifespans. As DHL Express upgrades to a new generation of aircraft, these retrofitted airplanes will serve as a bridge in its fleet.

Regarding the fleet change, Robert Hyslop, Executive Vice President of Global Aviation at DHL Express, said the following:

“We are delighted to welcome Mammoth-converted B777-200LRFs to the DHL Express family,

“With the renovation of our intercontinental fleet, we can simultaneously improve our track record for meeting increasing demand, reduce our environmental impact, and provide our clients with the best possible service. We take pleasure in demonstrating to partners and clients how these developments improve our service and help us get closer to the objectives set forth in our Sustainability Roadmap.
