On March 13, 2023, the airline declared that it would purchase the 787-9 aircraft. A filing on the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) states that the unit price will not be greater than $355 million and the total transaction value won’t be greater than $1.7 billion.
The average cost of a Boeing 787-9 is $292.5 million, with the price “representing a range of available choices and combinations for each model” that include extra or unique performance capabilities, interior layouts, avionics, fuel capacity, and other things.
According to data from ch-aviation.com, EVA Air now has 10 Boeing 787s in service: six 787-10s and four 787-9s. Four additional 787-9s and seven additional 787-10s are also on order. General Electric (GE) Next-generation (GEnx) engines are used to power all present and future Dreamliners, according to data from ch-aviation.
This will be Boeing’s second official confirmation of a 787 purchase this year. According to Boeing’s Orders & Deliveries data as of January 31, 2023, an unnamed customer (or customers) concluded a contract for seven 787-10s in January 2023.
While Lufthansa placed an order for seven Boeing 787-9 aircraft in early March 2023, Air India placed an order for 290 Boeing aircraft, including 20 787-9s, in February 2023.
