Female Delivery Rider Harassed by Man Posing as Air Force Officer in Bangkok

BANGKOK – A female delivery rider in Bangkok has come forward with a chilling account of harassment and assault by a man falsely claiming to be an air force officer. The disturbing incident occurred in the Don Mueang area and was widely shared on the “Sai Mai Must Survive” Facebook page, sparking public concern and calls for action.

The rider, whose identity has been withheld for her safety, recounted picking up a male customer at what appeared to be an air force residential compound. At first, the man seemed harmless—chatty and polite, with a family photo as his profile picture. He asked for her contact details and inquired about her job, prompting her to let her guard down.

But what began as casual conversation quickly turned sinister. The man offered to drive her motorcycle and suggested she could earn more money by accompanying him back to his flat. When she declined, he became more aggressive, offering her 600 baht (approximately US$18) for two hours of her company.

Feeling threatened, the rider attempted to record the conversation discreetly. The man noticed and reacted by trying to manipulate her, claiming money was hard to come by and insisting she “not overthink.” His behavior escalated when he grabbed her hand while riding and forced her to touch him, threatening that any resistance might lead to a crash.

Upon reaching their destination, the rider immediately contacted an acquaintance in the Ramkhamhaeng area for help. The man eventually walked away, but the harassment continued through persistent messages and threats. When her partner demanded an apology and proposed a meeting at a police station, the man refused and became increasingly hostile.

Now deeply shaken, the rider says she feels too unsafe to continue working, despite dressing modestly in an effort to avoid unwanted attention. She suspects the man lives in Don Mueang and may have targeted other victims, raising fears for the safety of other female workers in the area.

In response to the viral post, Ekaphop Luangprasert, founder of Sai Mai Must Survive, reached out to the rider to offer assistance. A formal meeting has been scheduled for 10 a.m. to review the case and gather more evidence.

Preliminary reports suggest the man falsely claimed military status to access a restricted area, where he coerced the rider into letting him operate her motorcycle. During the ride, he escalated his abuse, grabbing her hand and forcing it onto his trousers while warning her not to resist.

Police have been notified, and investigations are expected to follow. The rider’s story has since gone viral, serving as a stark reminder of the dangers many women face while simply trying to earn a living.
