To expand its route network and hasten the business recovery, Hong Kong Airlines will increase the number of Airbus A330s in its fleet.
Following a time during the pandemic when the airline was had to drastically downsize, three additional A330-300s will be added.
Our ticket sales were robust over the recent Dragon Boat Festival vacation, reaching a high ever since the pandemic started. The outcome is pretty positive because it shows that our efforts to resume flights this year are still having an impact and that the load factor even went above pre-pandemic levels by 7%. We’ll quicken the return of flights and broaden the reach of our network of flight destinations.
Mr. Hou Wei, Chairman of Hong Kong Airlines
292 seats will be available on the A330s. It is a two-class design, with 32 seats in business class and 260 in economy class. As a result, the A330s have been updated with vintage Hong Kong Airlines seat covers. The airline continues by stating that the aircraft’s acquisition will help them recover and that the cabin is roomy and comfortable.
With 16 parked and 15 in use, Hong Kong Airlines presently has more aircraft in storage than it does in operation. Due to its location in a region that saw some of the longest and strictest restrictions during the epidemic, it emphasizes the toll that has been placed on the company.
