Two organizations have demanded that a statue of Khru Kai Kaeo be removed from a hotel close to the Ratchada-Lat Phrao crossroads in Bangkok.

In a letter that will be delivered to The Bazaar Hotel in Bangkok today, the Artists Council for the Promotion of Buddhism of Thailand claims that the monument is frightening some people.

The enormous statue has been in the news ever since pictures of it becoming stuck under an overpass while being delivered to the hotel went viral online.

According to the group, placing the statue where people could worship it or ask for blessings is against Buddhist teachings.

In the meantime, the Rassadorn Thai Haeng Chart organization has sent a letter to the governor of Bangkok, Chadchart Sittipunt, requesting that he order the statue’s relocation.

The group claimed that residents of the adjacent areas were terrified of the statue.

People have gathered to the sculpture to seek blessings and have left behind valuables like wallets and flowers. According to social media, some followers have gone so far as to request kittens or puppies online to be offered as sacrifices.

Some people claim that Khru Kai Kaeo was a former Khmer Empire king’s instructor.

However, one historian claimed to have never heard of this instructor.
