Man Arrested for Brutal Slaying of Parents and Brother in Nakhon Si Thammarat
NAKHON SI THAMMARAT – A 50-year-old man has been arrested for the grisly murder of his elderly parents and younger brother at their home in Chian Yai district.
Police responded to a call from a concerned neighbor at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, arriving at the scene alongside a rescue team from the Po Tek Tung Foundation.
The suspect, An Uimon, was found inside the house and initially refused to surrender. Officers negotiated for a while before successfully convincing him to give himself up, according to Pol Col Suthat Songsayom, deputy commander of provincial police.
Inside the house, authorities discovered the bodies of An’s 81-year-old father, 71-year-old mother, and 30-year-old younger brother. The victims had sustained deep wounds inflicted by a cutting knife and a sharpened steel rod. Police estimated they had been dead for at least a day before being found.
Investigators revealed that An Uimon had a history of mental illness, having undergone treatment about three years ago. However, a drug test conducted after his arrest came back negative.
Authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the attack as the case develops.
