Man Arrested for Fatally Stabbing Ex-Wife in Drug-Fueled Attack in Phetchabun

PHETCHABUN, Thailand – April 13, 2025 — A 39-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly stabbing his ex-wife to death in a violent drug-fueled incident in Lom Sak district, Phetchabun province.

The attack occurred on the night of April 12, when 43-year-old Somkit was found with severe neck injuries in her home in Pak Chong subdistrict. Police were alerted at 10:30 p.m., and officers from Ban Klang Police Station, led by Police Colonel Pitak Deesang, arrived on the scene alongside rescue workers. Somkit was pronounced dead shortly after.

Meth Use and Domestic Violence Behind the Tragedy

The suspect, Sombat, Somkit’s former husband, had fled the scene following the stabbing. According to relatives, the couple had been separated for some time.

In his confession, Sombat admitted to taking five methamphetamine pills before going to his ex-wife’s house, allegedly to talk. He brought with him a knife intended for cutting wood. A verbal exchange quickly escalated into a violent argument, during which he claimed to have lost control due to anger and drug intoxication, resulting in him stabbing Somkit multiple times.

Arrest After All-Night Manhunt

Police initially searched Sombat’s home without success. By morning, villagers reported seeing him hiding on a mountainside nearby. Officers launched a search and found him in a stream, about 4 kilometers from the crime scene, visibly exhausted and still under the influence.

He was taken into custody without resistance and later escorted to re-enact the crime, a common step in Thai police procedure following a confession. Sombat has been handed over to investigators for further legal proceedings.
