Minor Earthquake Shakes Southern Thailand, Felt in Two Krabi Districts
KRABI, Thailand – April 14, 2025 — A mild earthquake struck tambon Khlong Khamao in Nuea Khlong district, Krabi province, on Monday afternoon, with tremors reported by residents in two districts.
According to Sukanyanee Yawinchan, Director-General of the Thai Meteorological Department, the 3.5-magnitude quake occurred at 2.27 p.m. at a shallow depth of just 2 kilometers underground.
Residents in Nuea Khlong and Muang districts reported feeling the tremor, although no damage or injuries were reported.
Additional Seismic Activity in the Region
Earlier the same day, at 8:54 a.m., a 4.2-magnitude earthquake was recorded 10 kilometers deep in neighboring Myanmar. Its epicenter was located approximately 136 kilometers southwest of Mae Sariang district, Mae Hong Son province, in northern Thailand.
The previous day, Myanmar experienced another more significant 5.9-magnitude quake, also 10 kilometers deep, centered in Meiktila City, roughly 271 kilometers northwest of Muang district, Mae Hong Son.
