Prayut Chan-o-cha, the prime minister, has ignored a subliminal threat from Pita Limjaroenrat, the leader of the Move Forward party, that his future administration will look into allegations of wrongdoing by the Prayut administration over the past eight years.
Following the Tuesday cabinet meeting, the prime minister remarked tersely, “I am not afraid.”
Pita stated that he thinks Prime Minister Prayut ought to be open to an investigation to see if he overstepped his bounds or violated human rights, such as when he passed a bill to reclaim forest land from people who had been using it for several years.
The leader of the Move Forward party has emphasized that any investigation against General Prayut and his government is not motivated by personal animus or an effort to obstruct him from becoming premier.
The idea that Anutin Charnvirakul, the deputy prime minister and leader of the Bhumjaithai party, had secret discussions with Srettha Thavisin, the Pheu Thai party’s candidate for prime minister, about forming an alternative government while they were recently in London, was also laughed off by Prime Minister Prayut.
He claimed that Anutin might have run into Srettha by accident at the stadium while Anutin was in London to watch a football game between Leicester City and West Ham United.
“How could any kind of secret deal be carried out in a stadium with so many people present?” enquired with the prime minister.
He claimed that while he has no involvement in the creation of a new government, it is his responsibility as the leader of a caretaker government to look after the needs of the populace and carry out projects that can be carried out by a caretaker administration.
