Police to Charge ‘Drift King of Phu Thab Boek’ After Viral BMW Stunt

PHETCHABUN, Thailand — Authorities are moving to press charges against a suspected foreign national after a viral video showed him dangerously drifting a white BMW Z4 along winding mountain roads in Phu Thab Boek, prompting both public outcry and online praise.

The now-deleted clip, originally posted on TikTok by user lolono.re, captured the vehicle performing high-speed drifts along a curved road in Lom Kao district. A man is seen filming the stunt with his phone as the car ascends toward the popular mountain destination. The video quickly drew widespread attention, sparking debate online. While some viewers lauded the stunt as cinematic and daring—comparing it to the Fast & Furious film series—many condemned the act as reckless and illegal.

Pol Col Theerasak Sarnphusitsan, chief of Lom Kao Police Station, confirmed on Friday that the incident is under investigation. “This type of behavior endangers public safety and cannot be ignored,” he said. He added that the driver is believed to be a foreigner and that police have already identified the vehicle involved.

Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage to confirm the driver’s identity and will soon issue a summons for him to face charges related to traffic violations and public endangerment.

The Phu Thab Boek area, known for its scenic mountain roads, is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. Officials have urged the public to refrain from performing or promoting dangerous stunts on public roads.
