Poo-litical Escape: Drug Suspect’s Disgusting Attempt to Evade Arrest Fails
BANGKOK, Thailand – A bizarre and foul-smelling escape attempt unfolded at a condominium in Huay Kwang when a drug suspect tried to smear police officers with faeces in a desperate bid to flee.
From Lift Dispute to Drug Bust
Police were initially called to the Pracha Uthit Road condo on April 1 to mediate a dispute between 33-year-old Noppakit and condo staff over damage to an elevator. Officers accompanied Noppakit to his room, where they found three other men:
- Itchaphum, 36
- Thotsaphon, 25
- Walit, 37
While discussing the elevator damage, officers spotted four B5 (benzhexol) tablets on a bed. A subsequent search revealed 0.633 grams of ketamine hidden in the room. Things escalated further when a .38 caliber handgun accidentally fell to the ground, prompting immediate questions. Noppakit admitted ownership but lacked a permit.
A Truly Dirty Escape Attempt
All four men were detained for drug testing and further investigation. However, when officers attempted to transfer Noppakit to the police station, he asked to use the bathroom—and that’s when things took a truly disgusting turn.
Instead of simply urinating, he defecated, grabbed his own faeces, and threatened to smear it on the officers while attempting to flee the scene. His escape plan backfired, as officers quickly overpowered and cleaned him before placing him into custody.
Charges & Legal Consequences
Noppakit is now facing multiple charges, including:
- Possession of a Category 2 psychotropic substance (Ketamine) without permission under Section 149 of the Narcotics Act – punishable by up to 7 years in prison and a fine of up to 700,000 baht.
- Illegal possession of a firearm under Section 7 of the Firearms Act – carrying a penalty of up to 10 years in prison, a fine of 20,000 baht, or both.
The other three suspects were also charged under Section 149 of the Narcotics Act.
While attempting to use faeces as a getaway weapon might be a first, the police’s quick response ensured that justice—though messy—was served.
