April 13, 2025 – Thailand has recorded over 1,000 road accidents and injuries just four days into the Songkran travel period, with 138 fatalities reported so far, according to the Road Safety Operation Centre.

  • Bangkok: Most fatalities (13)

Return Travel Begins:

  • Massive crowds reported at bus and train stations in the provinces.
  • 100,000+ travelers expected to return to Bangkok and eastern provinces by Thursday.
  • 4,800 bus trips arranged to handle the rush.

The official Songkran holidays are April 13–15, but with substitution days, the travel period extends through April 17. Authorities are monitoring road safety over a seven-day span to curb accidents during the nation’s largest travel period.
