Teenagers Arrested in Bangkok Hotel Sex Trafficking Sting

BANGKOK — Two 18-year-olds were arrested on the evening of May 17 in a sting operation targeting a sex trafficking ring operating out of a well-known hotel in the Pom Prap Sattru Phai district.

Police apprehended the suspects, identified only as A and B, in room 107 of the hotel at approximately 9:30 p.m. Both admitted to facilitating prostitution and receiving a 1,000-baht commission for each transaction. Authorities have charged them with procuring individuals for sexual services, enticing them for indecent purposes, and involvement in prostitution, regardless of the participants’ consent.

The operation was launched after police received a tip-off regarding suspect A’s alleged involvement in arranging illicit sexual services through the messaging application Line. Undercover officers posing as clients negotiated services for 800 baht each, plus a 1,000-baht procurement fee.

Officers meticulously prepared the operation, recording serial numbers of the banknotes used in the transaction to serve as evidence. Once payment was made and photographs were sent to confirm the arrangement, police moved in and arrested the suspects.

Authorities say the sting is part of a broader crackdown on sex trafficking operations that exploit young people and use digital platforms to coordinate illegal activities. Investigations into possible wider networks linked to the suspects are ongoing.
