Thai PM Sues Man Who Impersonated Her Advisor to Deceive Actress

BANGKOK, THAILAND – Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has taken legal action against a man accused of impersonating her personal advisor in a deceitful scheme that targeted Thai actress Rinyarat “Kana” Watchararojsiri.

The dramatic case came to light on April 7, when 33-year-old Kana appeared on Channel 3’s “Hone Krasae” program, revealing how her former boyfriend, Thunyathep “Hot” Sirisubdaechakun, tricked her into believing he was a high-ranking political insider.

💍 Elaborate Lies and a Fake Engagement

Kana shared that “Hot” claimed to be:

  • A personal advisor to PM Paetongtarn
  • Closely connected to former PM Thaksin Shinawatra
  • In touch with the Royal Secretary to the King

He allegedly convinced her to accept a marriage proposal by falsely claiming he had royal approval for their wedding. He also manipulated her into transferring 98,000 baht, claiming it was to buy a gift for the PM in gratitude for helping resolve legal issues concerning her business.

😱 Truth Uncovered

Kana later discovered that:

  • Hot was already married
  • He had no official position or connections in government or royal circles
  • Other women had also fallen victim to similar scams

🚨 Attempted Suicide and Criminal History

After being confronted, Hot denied all accusations. In a shocking turn, he attempted suicide by jumping from the third floor of Khok Kham Police Station. He survived with a spinal fracture and remains in hospital under medical supervision.

Police also uncovered:

  • An outstanding arrest warrant from a 2021 fraud case
  • A history of multiple surname changes, allegedly to evade arrest and deceive more victims

🛑 PM Paetongtarn Responds

Jirayu Huangsub, the actual advisor to PM Paetongtarn, confirmed that:

  • The Prime Minister has no personal connection to Hot
  • Hot was never an advisor or affiliated with the government
  • A formal complaint has been filed for unauthorized use of the PM’s name

Police are currently reviewing evidence to determine the specific legal charges and penalties Hot will face.

This case has sparked widespread concern about identity fraud and exploitation of political connections for personal gain.
