Thai Woman Denies Abusing Mentally Ill Man Despite Viral Video Evidence
Ratchaburi, Thailand – April 2025 — A disturbing video showing a mentally ill man, known as Noom, with severe facial injuries has gone viral, sparking public outrage and calls for justice. The footage, captured by local resident Nawee Ittisangwron, shows Noom bruised, bleeding, and barely able to open his eyes.
Noom claimed his employer, a woman named Pook, had repeatedly beaten him and sent him on errands, including one for sanitary pads when the video was taken. During a phone call, recorded on loudspeaker, Pook was heard shouting threats:
Initially denying abuse, Pook later admitted to hitting Noom, claiming he caused “many problems” and had stolen money. She said she and her husband were his only caretakers due to his mental condition and lack of family support.
Neighbors confirmed Pook’s long history of violence toward Noom and said they had reported the abuse multiple times, but no action had been taken.
Although government officials later took Noom for a medical check-up, he refused to press charges. Authorities reportedly cited a lack of evidence for possible legal limitations, though many online argue the phone recording alone should justify charges.
As of now, no formal updates or charges have been issued by the police.
