The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched 12 targeted travel campaigns to promote domestic tourism across 55 provinces, aiming to address the drop in international travelers during the green season. These initiatives are part of the “Year of Celebration” campaign, under the broader framework of the Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism & Sports Year 2025, with a goal to generate at least 500 million THB (approximately US$15 million) in tourism revenue.
Kritsada Tanthetthit, Secretary to the Minister of Tourism and Sports, stated that this effort is crucial in revitalizing Thailand’s tourism industry from June to September 2025. The initiative encourages local travel, aims to highlight emerging destinations, and provides diverse experiences to travelers.
Thailand’s overall objective for 2025 is to achieve 1.17 trillion THB (about US$35 billion) in tourism revenue and to facilitate 205 million domestic trips. Kritsada noted that these lifestyle-focused campaigns are tailored to modern travelers’ preferences and are designed to expand the domestic tourism market in innovative and strategic ways.
These efforts are expected to support local communities, stimulate regional economies, and strengthen Thailand’s image as a world-class travel destination. While international arrivals decreased slightly—recording 12.9 million visitors from January 1 to May 11, a 1.04% decline from the previous year—the focus on boosting domestic tourism is seen as a vital strategy to sustain industry growth.
