Thailand to Launch Online TM.6 System on May 1st to Boost Tourism and Ease Entry

Thailand to Launch Online TM.6 System on May 1st to Boost Tourism and Ease Entry

BANGKOK, Thailand – In a move aimed at modernizing immigration procedures and bolstering its tourism sector, the Thai Ministry of Interior has officially announced that the traditional paper-based TM.6 arrival/departure form will be replaced by a fully online system starting May 1, 2025.

The new Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC), also referred to as the online TM.6 system, is expected to streamline the entry process for foreign visitors and reduce paperwork at border checkpoints.

✈️ What’s Changing?

As of May 1, all foreign nationals entering or exiting Thailand will be required to submit their arrival/departure details online before traveling, replacing the long-standing blue-and-white TM.6 cards once filled out on the plane or at land borders.

🏛️ Government Statement

Traisuree Taisaranakul, spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, confirmed the shift and noted that Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has already signed the order revoking the previous TM.6 exemptions granted since June 2022.

“This is part of the broader update to align with the Immigration Bureau’s digital transformation,” she said.

✅ Next Steps

  • The new rule awaits the Prime Minister’s signature under the Immigration Act.
  • It will then be submitted for publication in the Government Gazette, making it official.

💻 What is the TDAC?

The Thailand Digital Arrival Card system will function as a pre-travel online registration platform, where travelers input personal information, travel plans, and accommodation details ahead of arrival. It is part of the government’s plan to enhance security, reduce wait times, and support tourism recovery after recent slowdowns.
