Tragic Hunting Mishap: Man Accidentally Shoots Friend in Banana Grove

UTTARADIT, April 16, 2025 — A hunting trip ended in tragedy when 42-year-old Saengarun accidentally shot and killed his close friend, 40-year-old Nares, in a banana grove in Baan Khun Fang, Mueang District, mistaking him for a wild boar.

The incident occurred around 10:00 PM on April 16. Police and emergency responders arrived to find Nares dead at the scene, with gunshot wounds to his neck and arm. The body has been sent to Uttaradit Hospital for autopsy.

According to Saengarun, he was returning from a hunt when he heard rustling in the grove and fired, thinking it was a boar. Upon investigating, he discovered he’d hit Nares. He performed CPR for 30 minutes and called emergency services.

Police arrested Saengarun, who was found with a homemade shotgun, ammunition, and a spent shell casing. He now faces multiple charges, including:

  • Negligent homicide
  • Illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition
  • Carrying a firearm without justification
  • Unlawful discharge of a weapon in a residential area

Police are proceeding with the investigation and legal action.
