The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is currently holding its inaugural World Safety and Operations Conference (WSOC) in Hanoi, Vietnam, with the primary aim of promoting safer and more efficient operations within the aviation industry. During the conference, IATA will officially launch the Safety Leadership Charter, which has been collaboratively developed in consultation with its members and the wider aviation community. This Charter aims to assist executives in building and fostering a positive safety culture within their respective organizations. Its eight Guiding Principles include regular assessment and improvement of organizational safety culture, creating an environment where all employees feel responsible for safety, integrating safety into business strategies and processes, and fostering an atmosphere of trust where employees are encouraged and confident to report safety-related information.
IATA has announced the first signatories to the Safety Leadership Charter, representing a prominent selection of airlines from across the globe. Among the signatories are Vietnam Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Qantas Airways, Hainan Airlines, Japan Airlines, EVA Airways, Philippine Airlines, Garuda Indonesia Airlines, ANA, and Air India from the Asia-Pacific region. Middle Eastern carriers include Emirates and Qatar Airways, while North American presence comes from United Airlines, Air Canada, and Delta Air Lines. Additional signatories include British Airways, Carpatair, Air Serbia, Ethiopian Airlines, Pegasus Airlines, and TAROM.
