At her condominium in Bangkok, a Thai woman’s life was sadly cut short when she was fatally stabbed by a fellow Thai guy. The victim’s neighbors reacted to the disturbance and quickly apprehended the offender.
A condominium in Bangkok’s Khlong San neighborhood had room 616 on the sixth floor when Buppharam Police Station officers arrived. The 26-year-old Thanida Upachai’s lifeless body was found inside, next to her bed, with 13 stab wounds. The terrible weapon, a 10-inch knife, was discovered close to the crime scene. The disturbance attracted the neighbors, who approached the attacker, Suwat Thajor, 21, as he tried to run away. They were courageous and nimble-footed enough to catch him. According to reports, Suwat attends a university in Bangkok.
Suwat stated during the following interrogation that Thanida had asked him to her room. He claims that she became irate when he was smoking in her room. Thanida then allegedly threatened him with a knife in order to stop him from smoking. Suwat went on to say that the two got into a struggle during which he was able to take the knife from her and stab her to death. At first, the police believed Suwat was an outsider who broke into the victim’s room with the intention of sexually assaulting or robbing her. Suwat asserted that they had known each other for a while and that Thanida was the one who had asked him to her room.
Suwat’s accusations were corroborated by surveillance footage from the condominium. The video showed Thanida descending to the lobby on the first floor and opening the main door with her keycard to let Suwat in.According to Section 288 of the Criminal Law, Suwat has been accused of committing purposeful murder, a felony that carries harsh punishments such as the death penalty, life in prison, or a sentence of 12 to 20 years in jail.
Suchart Poomkrajub, a condo resident, spoke to Channel 3 about the incident and expressed his concerns. Although the condominium had very stringent security measures in place, he noted that this was the second incidence of this nature in the previous two months. Suchart announced that he intended to move as a result of the disturbing nature of these events.
