The Democratic Party on Monday unveiled six pet-related policies.

According to the Democrat Party, more and more Thai families are choosing to retain pets nowadays. The party also acknowledged the significance of encouraging modern families to maintain pets as friends in order to promote animal husbandry and improve family well-being.

The goal, according to the party, is to promote wholesome interactions between people and animals.

According to the deputy head of the Democratic Party, Ongart Klampaiboon, “this would especially help in teaching children and young people to be kind and benevolent and in encouraging society to value every life.”

“All animals must have the proper care, protection, and hygiene, as well as be able to coexist happily with people in a society free from cruelty and abandonment,” he declared.

Six pet policies were announced by the party:

1. Strengthen the law and pertinent laws to organize pet trading, with a focus on the creation of supplier requirements like farm distribution, general store management, quality control, and pet farm management.

2. Make it easier to register pets and give pet owners free licenses.

3. Establish rights for pet registration.

4. Promote the production of animal feed and quality assurance that is equitable to both producers and consumers.

5. Promote the opening of an animal hospital to offer complete treatment for animals and efficiently control medical expenditures.

6. Support those willing to adopt strays by encouraging local administrative organizations to construct animal shelters as stray animal-care facilities across all provinces.

According to Ongart, “The Democrat Party thinks the pet policy will help bring orderliness among pet lovers and related people.”

In addition, he added, “it would promote family members’ mental health, which would contribute to the long-term happiness of Thai society.”
