KLM has unveiled its latest Business class product

KLM has showcased a brand-new seat for the Boeing 777’s business class. The new seat has a sliding door and has various upgrades sought by frequent travelers, including more privacy, additional seat controls, and much more. The seat seems more contemporary and cozy in comparison to its antiquated 2-2-2 arrangement, although the dark colors and signature blue remain. Detailed information is provided below.

Interesting changes

KLM debuted its brand-new business class seats today on a flight between Amsterdam Schiphol and Cape Town. The seat still has a lot of KLM’s personality even if it now has a 1-2-1 arrangement that is conventional in the industry. A sliding door, more controls, direct aisle access, and a new IFE system are some of the notable features. After two months of renovation, PH-BVA, with the “Orange Pride” special livery, became the first aircraft to fly again.

The popular Jamco Venture product has been upgraded to include a larger seat. While not the best at concealing stains and dings, the black seats and blue linings nonetheless add a charming touch to the cabin’s decor. There is a sizable console right next to you that has a wireless charger for phones and other compatible devices. A storage compartment at the back has space for a water bottle and headphones. Since it is a bit of a reach to use the IFE during takeoff and landing, there is also a small remote control with its own screen.A sliding door to increase seclusion is located on the right. Despite not being the highest and resting above the ground, the door is cozy for sleeping. A wonderful touch is the leather stitching on the door. A video from journalist Gordon Smith, who was on the first trip and provided the photos for this piece, is available below.

The minor details

KLM underlined that in creating this seat, it kept passenger usability in mind. The potential for limitless seat adjustment was the most frequently mentioned improvement, made possible via a lengthy strip of metal buttons along the left side. It should be simple to find the ideal angle thanks to features including a massaging function, pre-set positions, and manual adjustments.

Sunken drink holders (which prevent spills even during the slightest turbulence) and easy-access power outlets are additional little details. The AC outlet and one each USB-A and USB-C port are conveniently placed beneath the IFE and in front of the cupholder, making it simple to plug devices in and out. In order to switch from bed mode to upright, there is also an easy-to-reach button, saving you from having to reach for the controls. There is also a privacy screen so you may enjoy your seat if you end up in the center without a companion. It is unknown how much it will shake while typing, but a huge tray table that extends from the console makes it easy to operate a mouse. For dining, it is safe to state that there is enough room to enjoy the three-course feast without having to get up from your seat.

In the past year, on all airplanes

KLM has set a lofty goal to equip all 31 of its 777-200s and -300s with cabins over the next 12 months. However, there is no assurance they will be able to execute this project on time due to supply chain restrictions. Additionally, the new seats are 10 to 15% lighter than the old ones, which will save fuel on these outdated widebodies and make traveling a lot more comfortable for the passengers.
