Parliament to select new Prime minister on 13th July

House speaker-elect Wan Muhamad Noor Matha announced today (Wednesday) that the Thai parliament will meet jointly on July 13 to elect the country’s new prime minister.

One day after being unanimously chosen as the House speaker, Wan Muhamad was giving a speech. In preparation for him and his deputies receiving the Royal command confirming their posts, which may occur in the coming days, he presided over a meeting today with the secretary general of the parliament.

He stated that he will convene the first meeting of the House of Representatives on July 12 to discuss procedural matters once he assumes the role of Speaker of the House.

The joint session of the House and Senate to choose the premier will take place on July 13. At 9.30am, the meeting will get underway. Wan Muhamad stated, “I have already discussed the matter with Speaker of the Senate Pornpetch Wichitcholchai, who approved the date.
