TAT introduces the ‘Amazing Thailand SIM’ concept

TAT introduces the 'Amazing Thailand SIM' concept.

In cooperation with Advance Info Service (AIS), the biggest mobile network provider in the country, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will distribute one million SIM cards to visitors over the course of the following six months.
It is part of TAT’s “Welcome Back to Thailand” promotion, which aims to increase inbound travel during the peak season, and is known as the “Amazing Thailand SIM” project.

In a launch ceremony on Wednesday, Chattan Kunjara Na Ayudhya, TAT deputy governor for International Marketing (Asia and South Pacific), stated that the initiative not only aims to highlight Thailand’s potential as a top tourist destination, but also to improve travelers’ experiences beginning with trip planning.

Travelers travelling between October 17 and March 31 will receive one million mobile phone SIM cards from TAT as well as e-vouchers from partner organizations as part of this engagement.
The 18 TAT Asia and South Pacific regional offices, as well as well-known online travel firms, airlines, and associations, will distribute the SIM cards.

Visitors can get a free Amazing Thailand SIM card when making purchases through these portals, which will offer high-speed internet with up to 8GB of data for a trial period, he said.

TAT reports that more than 20 million tourists visited Thailand in the first nine months of 2023, with an increase in travelers from Asia and the Pacific, notably China, Malaysia, and India.
According to AIS Chief Consumer Business Officer Pratthana Leelapanang, the company is eager to support Thailand’s economy and travel sector.

As the majority of people rely on digital channels for services ranging from financial transactions and hotel reservations to shopping and even accessing government services, he thinks the SIM initiative will be another element that makes Thailand appealing to potential travelers.
A dependable and fluid online connection is essential for the rising community of digital nomads, who love traveling and working from any location in the world.

Along with e-vouchers from 11 lifestyle partners, the Amazing Thailand SIM will also include coupons from Bangkok Insurance, Central Group, Grab Thailand, King Power, Siam Piwat, and Singha Park Chiang Rai, to name a few.

More crucially, he added, AIS will be able to deliver timely emergency warnings thanks to this partnership with the government, ensuring tourists’ protection while they are in Thailand.

“This guarantees that traveling in Thailand is secure and safe. The business sector is prepared to assist in reviving the tourism sector’s revival, and all these steps are just the beginning, he added.
