New motorlink between Nonthaburi and Kanchanaburi toll free

Motorway link bangkok one

Motorists can enjoy toll-free travel on a newly opened section of Motorway No 81, also known as M81, during the New Year holiday period until next Wednesday. The Deputy Transport Minister, Surapong Piyachote, chaired the opening ceremony for the new section, which stretches from tambon Wangtaku in Nakhon Pathom’s Muang district to tambon Nong Khao in Kanchanaburi’s Tha Muang district.

The ministry considers this toll-free service as a New Year gift for drivers. This new section is expected to reduce travel time to only 30 minutes, compared to the usual hour and 10 minutes drive via Highway No 4 and Road 323. It is important to note that dropping off passengers or parking along the new motorway is prohibited. Motorists are advised to obey the 80 km/h speed limit and refrain from drunk driving.

Only four-wheeled vehicles are permitted on this new section. It is estimated that this addition will reduce the number of vehicles on the regular road by 20% (about 9,000 cars a day). The M81 is a 96 km long highway that connects Bang Yai in Nonthaburi to Road No 324 in Kanchanaburi.

In addition to the toll-free M81 section, the Transport Ministry has waived toll fees on Motorway No 6 (M6) from Bang Pa-in in Ayutthaya to Nakhon Ratchasima, which stretches about 196 km. This toll-free service will continue until the project’s completion in June 2025. This route will enhance trade and logistics in the northeastern region.

Furthermore, toll fees have been waived on other expressways including Motorway No 7 (Bangkok-Ban Chang) and sections of Motorway 9. The toll-free period will last until next Wednesday. These toll waivers also apply to expressways such as Burapha Withi, Kanchanapisek, Chaloem Maha Nakhon, Si Rat, and Udon Ratthaya expressways.
