True Corporation has been focusing on expanding its 5G utilization among tourists, with 60% of incoming visitors opting for its telecommunication service. The company has observed a 15% annual growth in 5G revenue.
The company’s objective is to increase its 5G coverage from the existing 90% of the country’s population to 98% within the next two years, as stated by CEO Manat Manavutiveth.
With 11 million users, True’s 5G service has a total network capacity capable of accommodating 17 million users nationally. The service’s average revenue per user (ARPU) per month currently sits around 500 baht, marking a 20% increase compared to the 4G service.
In terms of subscribers, True Corp boasts 50 million users. CEO Manat emphasized the significance of the tourism sector in the nation’s economic recovery. It is forecasted that the number of inbound tourists this year will surpass 38 million, with Chinese, Malaysian, and Indian citizens ranking among the top three nationalities.
True Corporation has been proactive in developing infrastructure, AI-driven applications, as well as packages with incentives to cater to the needs of tourists.
Thailand’s internet penetration rate is currently at 88% per person, with a household internet penetration rate at 43.7%. The nation ranks 11th globally in terms of home internet speed and 2nd within ASEAN, enhancing its digital services’ global competitiveness.
The connectivity enabled by True’s 5G network across Thailand is expected to not only meet tourists’ lifestyle demands effectively but also drive local tourism-related businesses such as accommodations, restaurants, and tourist venue bookings.
The company’s recent initiative, “True Nationwide, Throughout Everyone” with the concept of “True Power, Connecting the Nation,” aims to provide tourists with quick access to essential apps like maps, information searches, and restaurant applications.
