Nakornthon Hospital Plans IPO to Raise 1.1 Billion Baht

Nakornthon Hospital Plans IPO to Raise 1.1 Billion Baht

Nakornthon Hospital is set to raise 1.1 billion baht through an initial public offering (IPO) to enhance its healthcare services, particularly for the growing elderly population.

The hospital intends to sell 135 million shares to investors at prices between 7.6 and 8.2 baht, starting December 2.

“We aspire to be a leader in the hospital sector by providing advanced medical services, especially to residents in western Bangkok,” stated Yandhet Thongsima, president of Nakornthon Hospital.

Located on Rama II Road in Bang Khunthian district, the facility currently has 150 beds to serve its patients.

With an increase in patient numbers, the hospital plans to upgrade its infrastructure by adding more beds and constructing a second facility, Nakornthon 2, in Bang Khunthian, according to chief executive Wisan Saipetch. A budget of 414 million baht is earmarked to add 110 beds at the original hospital.

Additionally, the hospital plans to invest 900 million baht in the ongoing construction of Nakornthon 2, which will have 151 beds. Currently, the construction is over 30% complete, with an expected opening in 2025.

Nakornthon 2 is projected to provide medical services for workers enrolled in the state Social Security Fund by 2027, a later date due to the lengthy process of securing government approval.

Part of the funding will go toward the Nakornthon Long Life Centre project, designed to offer healthcare services for convalescent patients and the elderly. This center has a budget of 557 million baht and is slated to open in 2026.

Thailand became an aged society in 2022, with over 20% of the population aged 60 and older, according to the Thai Health Promotion Foundation.

The hospital also plans to expand its medical services to Myanmar, Cambodia, and Bangladesh, where demand for healthcare is on the rise. Many patients from these neighboring countries travel to Thailand for treatment at Nakornthon Hospital.

In 2023, Nakornthon Hospital served 133,719 patients and reported earnings of 1.5 billion baht with a profit of 190 million baht from January to September of this year.
