The Board of Investment (BoI) has greenlighted a significant investment project to establish “Jurassic World,” a theme park in Bangkok that will feature animatronic dinosaurs, aiming to enhance tourism.
Valued at 1.2 billion baht and covering an area of 4,000 square meters, the park will be situated at Asiatique The Riverfront, an open-air mall along the Chao Phraya River.
Asset World Attraction and Retail, a subsidiary of Asset World Corp (AWC), has received approval from the BoI to proceed with this investment.
Dubbed “Jurassic World: The Experience,” this venture marks the first of its kind in Southeast Asia. “The company aims to transform this tourist attraction into a new landmark for both Bangkok and Thailand,” stated Narit Therdsteerasukdi, secretary-general of the BoI.
Inspired by the blockbuster movie Jurassic World, Asset World Attraction and Retail plans to create a theme park filled with lifelike robotic dinosaur replicas. Beyond the animatronic exhibits, the park will feature iconic settings from the film, as the developer seeks to deliver an immersive entertainment experience for visitors, according to the BoI.
AWC previously announced plans to launch the park in the second quarter of this year, as part of the initial phase of its five-year strategy for Asiatique The Riverfront.
The project is a partnership involving AWC, NEON, and Universal Destinations & Experiences.
Designed to attract visitors of all ages from both domestic and international audiences, the immersive theme park aims to capitalize on the Jurassic franchise’s substantial global fan base, according to Wallapa Traisorat, chief executive and president of AWC.
Mr. Narit emphasized the importance of continued development in the tourism sector, noting that Thailand welcomed 35 million foreign tourists last year, who spent over 1.6 trillion baht throughout the country.
From 2015 to 2024, the BoI has approved a total of 209 investment projects in the tourism and service sectors, accumulating an investment value of 200 billion baht. This includes large-scale developments of tourist attractions, hotels, and conference centers.
