Bangkok Man Charged with Murder After Fatally Shooting Pregnant Wife During Argument
A 35-year-old pregnant woman was tragically shot and killed by her husband in a domestic dispute on April 12 in Bangkok’s Thung Khru district, prompting murder charges against the suspect.
The fatal shooting occurred inside a three-storey residence, where the victim was found with a gunshot wound to the right temple in the second-floor bedroom. A .38 calibre revolver, identified as the murder weapon, was found at the scene and seized as evidence.
Suspect Confesses, Cites Heated Argument
The husband, referred to as Kai, was apprehended less than 100 metres from the Thung Khru Police Station while trying to flee. He reportedly confessed to police, saying the tragedy followed a heated argument sparked by his wife discovering a message from another woman on his phone as he cleaned his firearm.
“I lost control,” Kai told investigators, expressing remorse for killing his wife and unborn child.
Background of the Relationship
According to his statement, Kai had previously worked as a goldsmith and later opened an ice cream shop near the police station. He met the victim at a bar in Silom’s Thaniya district in 2024, after which she left her nightlife job and moved in with him. Tensions in the relationship increased after the woman became pregnant in December 2024 and later disappeared for a week, raising suspicions and straining their bond.
Murder Charges Filed
Police Lieutenant Sakrakorn Kumpan and Colonel Jumpol Sinsiripong, along with forensic officers, launched a swift investigation. The suspect has been charged with intentional murder and firearm-related offenses, and is now in custody awaiting legal proceedings.
This tragic case adds to growing concerns over domestic violence in Thailand, especially during holiday periods, when family tensions can escalate.
