Thai Professor Denies Involvement in Nude Image, Blames AI Deepfake

SONGKHLA — A Thai university professor from a well-known institution in Songkhla has resigned following the circulation of a nude photo allegedly depicting him. The professor claims the image was manipulated using artificial intelligence (AI).

Background of the Incident

  • A Facebook page, Big Kren, linked the professor to a controversial group called OutdoorHDY, known for filming explicit content in public spaces.
  • The group recently caused public outrage after staging a nude shoot near Phra Phuttha Mongkhon Maharat, a sacred Buddha statue.
  • One image from the group showed a naked man at a university stadium, wearing only an Apple Watch — alleged to be the professor.

University’s Response

  • The university confirmed it conducted an internal investigation and did not attempt to cover up the matter.
  • The professor in question has since resigned.

Professor’s Statement

  • In an interview on April 23, the professor:
    • Denied any involvement, saying he never posed for such photos.
    • Claimed the image was an AI-generated fake.
    • Suggested the culprit may be the same person who impersonated him on X (formerly Twitter), where similar AI-created nudes were posted.

The case has ignited conversations around deepfake abuse, reputation damage, and the urgent need for legal protections against AI-generated misinformation.
