Bangkok Condo Raid Seizes Over 6,500 Illegal E-Cigarettes, Two Arrested
BANGKOK, Thailand – May 27, 2025
Authorities uncovered a major stash of illegal e-cigarette products in Bangkok’s Bang Kapi district, seizing 6,596 disposable vapes and related items in a condominium raid on May 26. Two individuals were arrested during the operation.
Officers from the Special Tools and News Analysis Division of the Metropolitan Police Bureau executed a court-approved search warrant at the condo, arresting 40-year-old Anan and 28-year-old Paengkwan. The pair were found with a wide assortment of illegal vaping products, including e-liquids, coils, and disposable e-cigarettes capable of delivering between 6,000 and 15,000 puffs.
According to police, the suspects admitted they were hired to receive, package, and distribute the banned products. The e-cigarettes were stored in grey parcels and handed over to delivery personnel for distribution. Both individuals were reportedly paid a monthly salary of 25,000 baht (approx. US$765) for their roles.
The seized items and suspects were transferred to Hua Mak Police Station, where they face charges of violating consumer protection board regulations related to the sale and distribution of e-cigarettes and refill liquids.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on illegal e-cigarette sales, which remain banned under Thai law despite growing underground demand.
