Thailand and Malaysia Railways Collaborate to Restore Bangkok–Butterworth Route and Enhance Cross-Border Partnership

Thailand’s State Railway (SRT) and Malaysia’s KTMB have agreed to revive the Bangkok–Butterworth train route, enhance cross-border rail services, develop double-track lines, and unify ticketing systems. During the 43rd SRT–KTMB Joint Conference, officials discussed restoring the service, improving safety, promoting rail tourism, and establishing emergency protocols under the theme “Railnaissance.” This cooperation aims to strengthen Thailand–Malaysia rail links and improve regional connectivity within ASEAN.
