The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) has directed Nok Air to suspend its international routes and possibly restrict its domestic expansion plans. This move comes as the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) is conducting a routine safety audit of Thailand’s aviation sector.

“The incident rate over the past two to three years has been substantial, including events such as engine shutdowns mid-flight, runway excursions, hard landings, and tail strikes,” stated Air Chief Marshal Manat Chavanaprayoon, CAAT’s director general.

Furthermore, the airline has faced internal challenges related to staff shortages and low morale.

Nok Air has not operated international flights since June.

The airline emphasized its commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards and enhancing service quality across all areas of operation.
