Singapore Airlines Eyes Launch of Flights to Chiang MaiSingapore Airlines Eyes Launch of Flights to Chiang Mai

Singapore Airlines is preparing to launch a new service to Chiang Mai as it moves forward with plans to expand its network in Thailand.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) said its director-general, Air Chief Marshal Manat Chavanaprayoon, welcomed a delegation from Singapore Airlines on Jan 26 to discuss preparations for the proposed route to Chiang Mai International Airport.

The airline’s delegation was led by Daniel Ho, Singapore Airlines’ Bangkok station manager, along with other executives and staff. Talks focused on operational readiness, aviation safety oversight and compliance with civil aviation standards to ensure a smooth and efficient start to the new service.

The meeting, held at CAAT headquarters, also covered coordination on regulatory procedures to make sure the planned route aligns with both Thai regulations and international aviation standards. Singapore Airlines representatives expressed appreciation for CAAT’s continued support and cooperation.

CAAT said the discussions reflect close collaboration between regulators and airlines in supporting the safe expansion of air connectivity. The agency reaffirmed its role in overseeing safety and facilitating civil aviation operations to ensure new routes are introduced in line with global standards.

If launched, the Chiang Mai service would strengthen links between northern Thailand and Singapore, while offering more travel options for both tourists and business travellers.
