State logistics provider Thailand Post is preparing to rename its subsidiary, THP Distribution (THPD), to THP Logistic, a move aimed at better reflecting its core operations and expanding its business-to-business (B2B) services.
The rebranding supports Thailand Post’s plan to list the subsidiary on the Stock Exchange of Thailand, according to Thailand Post president Dhanant Subhadrabandhu. He said the proposal to rename the unit has already been submitted to the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society for approval.
Currently, THPD handles about 30% of Thailand Post’s logistics volume, down from more than 50% three years ago. Despite the decline, the subsidiary maintains strong capabilities in the healthcare logistics segment and in the transportation of electronic equipment within the B2B market.
Established to strengthen Thailand Post’s overall service capabilities, THPD operates independently from its parent’s postal services by focusing on middle-mile logistics. Its role includes transporting parcels between major logistics hubs nationwide, as well as managing the delivery of bulky items, pharmaceuticals, medical supplies and medical equipment.
Mr Dhanant said the planned listing of THPD forms part of Thailand Post’s broader strategy to spin off subsidiaries in order to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
In recent years, THPD has partnered with several logistics providers, including Best Express, to offer cost-efficient express delivery services for large parcels. Most recently, the subsidiary signed a memorandum of understanding with Singapore-based SWAT Mobility to enhance transport route optimisation through artificial intelligence.
The collaboration aims to support environmental sustainability by reducing carbon emissions from last-mile deliveries, while also cutting fuel costs by an estimated 10%, or around 3 million baht per month.
