A wild sambar deer sprang out of nowhere and crashed into the side of a car

The deer ran from the frontage road into the 12-lane Borommaratchachonnani Road and struck Worapoj Saelim’s Mercedes automobile on the left side, the 55-year-old told police.

At 10.30 am, the accident took place in front of Mahidol University’s Salaya campus in the capital’s western suburbs.

Worapoj adamantly denied colliding with the deer.

The enormous beast had sideswiped the Mercedes at a high rate of speed, according to the severe damage to the front passenger door of his car.

Worapoj admitted to authorities that he did not see the animal approach, but that he did feel the collision and witness the deer being thrown into the air by the force of the contact.

He claimed that in order to get assistance for the sambar, he immediately dialed the police emergency number. The deer was found dead on the side of the road when police and emergency personnel arrived at the site. The Veterinary Faculty at Mahidol University was contacted to send staff to check the dead sambar for a microchip, but they were unable to find one. The beast was 1.2 meters tall and 70 kilograms, according to police estimates.

Officials are currently perplexed as to how the deer may have unexpectedly appeared on a busy major route in the suburbs of the city. The sambar, which can reach a height of 160 cm and a weight of 220 kilograms, is the largest deer in Thailand. Their native environment is dense forest.Police are holding the carcass until they can deliver it to the appropriate authorities because no one came forward to claim ownership of the sambar.
