Aeronautical Radio of Thailand (AeroThai) plans to test seaplane operations in Phuket and Trang from October to November 2025, with an official launch targeted for mid-2026. The trial aims to offer alternative travel options for residents and tourists, reducing travel time and boosting marine tourism.
Environmental impact studies on noise, oil leaks, and coral reefs are underway; if no issues are found, services will be officially introduced. Currently, two private companies operate aircraft for island-to-island flights.
The Transport Ministry has guided AeroThai on developing aviation infrastructure, upgrading flight routes, integrating operational plans with regional airports, and fostering collaboration among relevant agencies to support future transport growth.
