The Thai government has introduced the “Amazing Thailand 365 Days” campaign to leverage digital platforms for promoting domestic tourism year-round.
On Saturday, government spokesman Chai Wacharonke noted that Airbnb’s tourism trend data for Thailand reveals a growing preference among travelers for less frequented provinces, alongside traditional tourist hotspots.
This trend aligns with Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin’s initiative to enhance tourism in relatively unexplored regions, as well as in well-known cities like Phuket and Chiang Mai, according to Mr. Chai.
According to Airbnb’s insights, the currently most sought-after provinces include Mae Hong Son, known for its scenic beauty, rich culture, and outdoor activities, especially in the Pai district; Trang, which features 46 breathtaking islands, with Koh Kradan recognized as the world’s best beach by the World Beach Guide last year; and Ayutthaya, the site of an ancient capital steeped in history.
Accommodation searches in Mae Hong Son and Trang have increased significantly, with year-on-year surges of 149% and 143%, respectively.
Other provinces that are also gaining traction among tourists include Satun, Phetchaburi, Narathiwat, Rayong, Kalasin, Buri Ram, and Songkhla.
Furthermore, Mr. Chai announced that the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Line Co Ltd have collaborated on the Amazing Thailand 365 Days project, utilizing generative AI to assist travelers in creating their itineraries.
Tourists can access an AI-driven itinerary planning system and find information on attractions, festivals, and events across the country by visiting https://amazingthailand365.tourismthailand.org.
“The Prime Minister has been actively monitoring tourism trends to enhance Thailand’s tourism,” he stated. “Digital technology serves as a vital tool to provide convenience and promote tourism in a contemporary manner.”
