Air New Zealand weighs passengers before flight

To increase flight safety, an airline would weigh overseas passengers, according to reports.

The airline Air New Zealand assures passengers that their weight won’t be made public.

It has been claimed that in June, Air New Zealand will weigh all of its overseas travelers.

The data will be used to determine the average passenger weights, which is helpful for pilots when determining the weight and balance of an aircraft.

An official stated that those who choose to participate will aid the airline in conducting safe flights.

According to news.com.au, passengers who sign up for the program will have their weight taken before some Air New Zealand flights leaving from Auckland International Airport through 2 July.

Passengers were given the assurance that their weight would not be made public by load control improvement specialist Alastair James of Air New Zealand.

He added, “We weigh everything that goes on the aircraft, from the meals to the bags in the hold.

“We use average weights, which we obtain from conducting this survey, for customers, crew, and cabin bags.”

Sky News Australia reported that he said: “It’s important because we need to know the weight of everything that goes on our aircraft.”

Mr. James gave passengers the assurance that their weight would be recorded secretly on a computer screen and would not be visible to other passengers.

The airline weighed domestic passengers in 2021 despite the study’s emphasis on international travelers.

As Mr. James acknowledged, “stepping on the scales can be intimidating.”

“We’d like to reassure our customers that there isn’t any sort of display anyplace. Nobody, not even us, can see your weight. It is entirely anonymous.

You can participate at any moment, it’s easy, and by doing so, you’ll help us fly you every time safely and effectively.

According to news.com.au, Air New Zealand stated that at least 10,000 passengers were required to engage in the survey, and that it was a mandate of the Civil Aviation Authority.
