Airlines Halt Flights Amid Increasing Tensions in the Middle East

Concerns about a possible escalation of conflict in the Middle East have led international airlines to either suspend flights to the region or reroute around affected airspace.

Here is a list of airlines that have modified their services in relation to the area:

AIR ALGERIE
The Algerian airline has halted flights to and from Lebanon until further notice.

AIRBALTIC
Latvia’s airBaltic intends to resume flights between Riga and Tel Aviv on September 17, as stated in an email on September 16.

AIR FRANCE-KLM
Air France announced on September 17 that it had suspended flights to Beirut and Tel Aviv until September 19. As of September 23, their website indicated that flights to Beirut were cancelled until at least September 24, whereas services to Tel Aviv had resumed. The airline has not yet responded to a request for comment from Reuters.
KLM has cancelled all flights to and from Tel Aviv until October 26. Additionally, the low-cost unit of the Franco-Dutch group, Transavia, has suspended flights to Tel Aviv until March 31, 2025, and flights to Amman and Beirut until November 3.

AIR INDIA
The Indian national carrier has suspended scheduled flights to and from Tel Aviv indefinitely.

CATHAY PACIFIC
The Hong Kong-based airline has cancelled all flights to Tel Aviv until March 27, 2025.

DELTA AIR LINES
The U.S. airline has announced a pause on its flights between New York and Tel Aviv through December 31.

EASYJET
The UK-based budget airline stopped flying to and from Tel Aviv in April and plans to resume operations on March 30, 2025, according to a spokesperson.

IAG
IAG’s Spanish low-cost carrier Vueling has cancelled its flights to Tel Aviv until January 12, 2025. The airline also noted that flights to Amman have been cancelled until further notice.

LOT
The Polish national airline has suspended flights to Lebanon until further notice, while flights to Tel Aviv continue to operate regularly, as stated in an email on September 20.

LUFTHANSA GROUP
The German airline conglomerate announced the suspension of all flights to and from Tel Aviv and Tehran until September 24, with flights to Beirut halted until October 26.

RYANAIR
Europe’s largest budget airline has cancelled flights to and from Tel Aviv until October 26 due to “operational restrictions.”

SUNDAIR
The German airline has cancelled all flights between Bremen and Beirut until October 23.

SUNEXPRESS
The joint venture between Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa has suspended flights to Beirut until December 17.

UNITED AIRLINES
The Chicago-based carrier has suspended flights to Tel Aviv indefinitely, citing security concerns.

LEBANESE AIRSPACE ALERTS
The UK government has instructed British airlines to avoid entering Lebanese airspace from August 8 to November 4, citing the “potential risk to aviation from military activity.”
