Airports of Thailand (AOT) to invest further in the international expasion

The COVID-19 pandemic had a devastating effect on Thailand, a country that depends heavily on tourism, with several of its resort cities all but shutting down. Because of this, it may be anticipated that Airports of Thailand (AoT) will make investments in vital infrastructure at its primary airports in order to stay competitive and fend off competition from surrounding nations like Cambodia.

Don Mueang, the airport that was supposed to close when Suvarnabhumi opened in 2006, will receive the majority of a sizable USD2.85 billion investment, almost all of which will be used to expand terminal space, at Bangkok’s two city-region airports (a third is being built far south of the capital).

To maintain the expansion of tourism, money will also be put into airports that cater to travelers in Chiang Mai in the north and Phuket in the south.
