A man of American nationality was detained at Suvarnabhumi airport after customs officials discovered 1.1 kilograms of heroin concealed inside perfume bottles.
According to Customs Department spokesman Phantong Loykulnanta, customs and police investigators inspected the possessions of the man, whose identity was not disclosed, as he was suspected of smuggling narcotics from the United Kingdom on Thursday.
The individual, reportedly en route to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia via Suvarnabhumi, was found to possess a quantity of heroin concealed within perfume bottles. The seized drugs were estimated to be valued at 3.3 million baht.
Subsequently, the man was transferred to the Airport Interdiction Task Force for further legal processing.
The Customs Department indicated that its agents executed 59 narcotics-related apprehensions between October 1 of the previous year and February 15, resulting in the confiscation of drugs worth 342 million baht.
