Police Lieutenant Colonel Noppadon, serving as both a mechanic and superintendent at the S.P. Samut Prakan City Police Station, collaborated with the investigative department to detain a 26-year-old man accused of attempting various offenses at a BTS station.

The arrest ensued following an incident reported at approximately 10:00 AM by a 30-year-old woman, a cosmetics vendor at a local mall. She recounted being confronted by the assailant while riding an escalator at a BTS station. The suspect forcefully restrained her, attempted to disrobe her, and subjected her to physical assault before fleeing down the escalator, abandoning his personal belongings.

Prompted by the victim’s report, Police Lieutenant Colonel Noppadon initiated an investigation, which involved scrutinizing CCTV footage from the station. This footage provided compelling evidence of the suspect’s actions, aiding in his identification and subsequent arrest.

Background checks unveiled the suspect’s previous convictions for theft, with his most recent acquittal in August. During interrogation, the suspect attributed his conduct to drug addiction, admitting to consuming a substantial quantity of Roche pills prior to the incident.

Initially refuting any wrongdoing, the suspect later admitted to the assault, attributing his behavior to drug-induced impairment.

The victim conveyed shock and distress over the incident, noting a previous similar attack, raising concerns about safety at BTS stations. Another individual recounted a comparable encounter with the same perpetrator on an overpass in Loi Kha Samut Prakan, narrowly avoiding assault due to the timely intervention of a passerby.

These occurrences underscore the imperative for heightened vigilance and security measures at public transit hubs to safeguard commuters’ safety.
